1995 Chevy Caprice 9C1
The Modifications
All other mods have been transferred from the 1994 9C1,
so some won't be repeated here. The only ones listed here are major items:
Mechanical Mods
- Corvette dress
- Metco fuel pressure gauge
- ATR-Quad 2.5" exhaust system; converted to ATR-Dual for summer
- Performance Friction brake pads and UBP front rotors
- Rear disc brake pads and caliper rebuild (new brackets and pins)
- Replaced starter with new GM Corvette starter (PN 10455709)
- Hypertech PP+ computer tuning; now using LT1-Edit with laptop interface
- Throttle body air foil and sewer-pipe intake
- Throttle body rebuild; new IAC, cleaned, gaskets
- Throttle body coolant bypass (for summer use only)
- Throttle body crankcase vent system redesign (to stop oil from entering)
- Right side air injection (AIR) redesign to look better; later, delete
- Oil filler neck deleted; oil fill cap threads into valve cover
- Cooling fans replaced with correct 240W and 150W versions
- High capacity transmission pan (with extra air cooling)
- Standard tune-up items (EGR, plugs, wires)
- Crane ignition coil; later removed when it went ka-put after 80K miles.
- Rear-end rebuild; new limited-slip diff, 3.42 gears, TA cover (warranty items)
- MMC Aluminum driveshaft; drive shaft loop
- New steering linkage (center link; idler arm, etc.)
- New right side exhaust manifold (cracked and replaced; warranty item)
- New exhaust manifold bolts all around (several were broken)
- O2 sensors replaced
- Lightbar hole patched in roof (still needs painted)
- Air conditioning drip-hose extension tube
- Code-3 pushbar installed in front bumper; later removed
- Water pump replaced with a lifetime warranty unit
- Bullet Proof trans. rebuild by Hi Performance Transmission, Uniontown PA; higher stall converter, transgo shift kit, extra clutches, etc.
Electrical Mods
- Lighted analog tachometer added
- Cooling fan override switches with status LEDs
- AC compressor override switch with status LED
- Lighted center console for radio equipment
- Lighted "Caprice SS" on dash above radio
- Cornering lamps installed (using the factory harness)
- Forward driving lamps mounted to pushbar
- Switch console for above items on driver-side door armrest area
- Trunk mounted radio antenna(s)
- Additional lamp in trunk for extra lighting
- "Gate Ajar" indicator on dash connected to switch on trunk lid (see pics)
- "Triangle" indicator on dash connected to 4-way hazard flashers (flashes even when ignition is off)
- "Door Open" indicator on dash connected to door switch circuit
- High/low filament bulb added to center position on tail-light capsules (work in progress)
